UV Tenara thread
Upgrade the longevity of your UV protection with Tenara thread. The leading cause of head sail repair is restitching of the UV cover. Tenara thread is specially engineered to provide substantially better UV stability saving you money over the long term.
Foam luff
Furling head sails often loose their shape when reefed, adding a foam luff can dramatically improve the shape of your headsail when partially furled maintaining pointing ability and performance.
UV protection colours
We stock a range of marine grade UV materials from Sunbrella, Solacryl and Weathermax. Stocked colours include captain navy blue, navy blue, marine blue, pacific blue, cadet grey, charcoal grey, forest green, red, burgundy, sand, black and white.
Leech battens
Leech battens can help stabilise the leech of your sail further improving pointing ability and tacking angles and ensuring maximum performance even on the highest points of sail.
Crosscut Vs Radial
Both cross cut and radial designs with appropriate sailcloths may be used in the construction of head sails.
In general, radial designs will help the boat point higher and improve tacking angles.
Cross cut designs and sailcloths offer a robust construction and more budget friendly alternative whilst still offering great durability and long term performance.
Both cross cut and radial designs with appropriate sailcloths may be used in the construction of mainsails. In general, radial designs will help the boat point higher and improve tacking angles they also work particularly well with furling mainsails as this type of cut and sailcloth stretches less over time heading off any potential furling issues caused by cloth stretch and fatigue as well as optimising the relatively lower roach profile of these sails. Our experienced team will help guide you through the advantages and disadvantages of each depending on your rig, sailing needs and budget.
